I'm pretty much a newbie on GIMP what is layerfx.py ? Is it a filter like neon logo? I entered to that post to read about it but didn't understand. But it makes sense now, I thought it was a problem of my computer. I was really confused as neon logo worked fine in some moments when I first installed 2.10 and then it crashed completely. Any ideas on how to resolve This is my first attempt at using scripts and I'd like to get this working so I can try some others. I shut down and restarted Gimp and did a refresh scripts but the layer effects scripts do not appear. Possibly layerfx.py and outer glow on a text layer. Then I downloaded layerfx.2.8.py and copied it to my scripts folder. I would like to recommend an equivalent replacement but nothing exactly the same. Multiple re-installs in desperation rarely work with Gimp where the settings remain in your Gimp profile. Now the scripts won't show up in the Filter window directly. Quote:I tried everything: removing the scripts, installing them again, uninstalling and reinstalling GIMP, etc. Most of those old scripts break in Gimp 2.10, some of them can work by including old Gimp 2.8 plugins. Step 3: Restart GIMP, and it should identify and load your new plugin automatically For advanced users, that’s probably enough information, but. Step 2: Copy your plugin files to the GIMP plugin folder for your user profile. ![]() If you have downloaded a script, copy or move it to one of GIMP 's Scripts folders. I refreshed scripts, uninstalled, reinstalled, etc etc Cant seem to get it to work / Im on Windows 10 64bit, using GIMP 2.8. The very short guide to installing GIMP plugins only has 3 steps: Step 1: Download your plugin from an official source. ![]() There are many scripts that come with GIMP by default, but there are even more available for download online. There exists a GIMP plugin for using the CMYK color model If you want to run Photoshop plugins in GIMP, Microsoft Windows and Linux users may use the PSPI. One of the great things about Script-Fu is that you can share your script with all your GIMP friends. You can also start Gimp normally and run your script from the Python-fu console (Filters>Python-fu>Console).
